Synopsis
Sawyer says…
Casual flings are the only way to go.
Everyone you trust eventually leaves.
Falling in love is for anyone, but her.
What else would she say when all she knows is loss and abandonment? Sawyer Sterling learned too young that depending on anyone else will get her nothing but heartache in the end. Never shying away from outwardly showing her love, she struggles accepting it herself. Stubbornly, she vows to never risk her heart.
Dealing with revelations she never saw coming, her impulse is to distance herself from emotional entanglements. When her past collides with her present, can Jared Keller help prove to her just how wrong her assumptions are? He is the exception to her argument that everyone leaves. Will she ever see him as something she deserves?
Review
Sawyer and Jared grew up together after Sawyer's parents died. They spent their summers together, and while there was always interest on Jared's part, Sawyer just isn't the settle down, commitment type of girl.
Sawyer has serious abandonment issues, and doesn't think that she is good enough for Jared. So when her grandmother suddenly passes away, she embarks on a journey to find out why her grandmother didn't want her. Why did her grandmother send her away instead of taking care of her after the death of her parents? Can she find these answers and find herself along the way?
What a story of self discovery and self worth! Your heart will break with and for Sawyer as you read about her trials in life. But there just may be a light at the end of the tunnel. I picked up this book at 3am one morning, only intending to read a chapter or two. What seemed life an hour or so later turned out to be three hours later as I was finishing up the last chapter. I simply could not put this book down! But the greatest thing happened along the way. I identified with some of Saywer's pain, and I was working through my own at the same time. By the time I closed the book, I felt whole again.

If you read and enjoyed Him and Her, then you will love Sawyer Says. We barely got to know Sawyer as Sarah's best friend and roommate, but this time it is Sawyer's turn to tell her story. She's spunky and interesting, and I loved her!
