Off Chance - Review

5 - Star Review!!  This has earned a spot near the top of my list of favorite books!

Review

Oh my word... I was blown away by Sawyer Bennett's newest book, Off Chance.  When I was reading through the promotional materials (posted earlier this week here), I was so excited to see Flynn Caldwell.  When the author warns you that, "He will make you swoon... repetitively," it makes you take notice. And let me tell you, Bennett lives up to that promise!

It seems like most of the book that I have read recently have male leads that are either the quintessential "bad boy," or they go to the other extreme of geek.  Well Flynn is neither of those!  He has a heart of gold with a hero complex, but not the extreme cockiness that could come from the hero complex.  He wants to save Rowan, but not for anything in return.  He honestly just wants to help her out of a bad situation.  Of course, nothing is ever that easy, so there are stumbling blocks along the way, but Flynn and Rowan also become increasingly attracted to each other along the way.  But the question remains, will Rowan open herself up to another man after the horrendous break up that she suffered through the last time?

As the tour banner says, all of the books in the Off Series can be read as standalones.  But, if you have read the rest of the series, you are in for a treat as we get to see the entire Off Series cast in this book.  We get to catch up and see which couples are actually working out and if any of them decide to take the matrimonial plunge.

I started reading the series with Off Sides and really enjoyed Sawyer Bennett's writing style.  So when Off Limits came out, I thought, "why not? Let's give it a read."  After those two, I was hooked. Not only is this on my list of favorite books, Bennett has become one of my favorite authors.  She has this amazing way of describing the characters and scenes in a way that makes them leap off the page and drag you with them.  Once you crack the over of an Off book, prepare yourself to be lost until you reach the final page.

Except for the fact that he died in 1910…

Malyn Reed has been able to see spirits her entire life. Now that she’s almost seventeen, she has learned to differentiate between the living and the dead, making her gift feel less like an evil curse. But all of that came to a tragic halt at the age of nineteen when his life came to an untimely end. For the past hundred years, his spirit has been entombed in a ghostly life of loneliness and misery that he wishes would just end…until the Reeds move in.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Janae has been a writer since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Her genre of choice was poetry and short stories—until now. After falling in love with so many books over the past decade, she decided that she wanted to write a novel of her own and bring life to the characters that haunt her mind. It wasn't until 2012 that she pursued that passion and started on her first YA novel. 115,000 words later, For Always was born.

Having grown up in an historical Dandridge home that was used as slave quarters during the Civil War, she experienced several things that couldn't be explained. Due to these events, she sought out and joined an investigative team called Eyewitness Paranormal. Her interest in ghosts and the unexplained, combined with her love for telling a story, made writing the For Always series inevitable.

Janae was born and raised in East Tennessee, where she currently resides with her husband, two children, and their hairless dog, Slick. In her spare time, she likes to read, play tennis, and spend time with her family on the lake.

Off Chance - Release Day!

Bestselling author Sawyer Bennett has released her latest New Adult Contemporary novel in the Off Series! We have a guest post and giveaway below to help celebrate!

AUTHOR’S TAKE ON FLYNN CALDWELL

Flynn Caldwell is a real hero! He works for the NYFD, a career choice he made after suffering a very tragic loss when he was younger. His experiences drive him to always want to save things, and his eyes are now set on Rowan Page.

Flynn is about the most genuine leading man I have ever written.  He has nothing but good intentions, he's filled with loyalty and he is adored by everyone. When I Set out to write Flynn's character, I wanted to create a hero that every man could aspire to be.  It doesn't mean he is without flaws... because he has them.  But he is also someone that learns quickly and is always striving to become a better person.  He will make you swoon... repetitively.
