White Trash Beautiful - Review

~~ 5-Star Review~~

This is my first experience with Teresa Mummert's work, and to say that I loved it would not do the experience justice.  There was so much emotion packed into this book that swept me away.  Not only can I not wait to read the sequel to White Trash Beautiful, I'm looking forward to reading more by Mummert.

Let me start by saying that I received an ARC of White Trash Beautiful in exchange for an honest review, read the first few pages and went out and purchased the print version.  Ok, I purchased it for several reasons, 1) yes, it is that good from the start, 2) the cover is gorgeous, 3) I wanted Mummert to sign my copy at BookBash.  My only regret is that I did not read this book sooner!

Cass Daniels is strong and sassy from the first page!  She works at a hole in the wall diner and lives in a trailer park with her drug addicted, abusive boyfriend and her strung out mother.  So to say that she has a rough life is an understatement.  Little does she know how one customer will forever change her life.

Tucker White rolls into town with his tattoos, motorcycle, ripped jeans and abs to match and is instantly drawn to Cass Daniels.  But she is to stubborn to let him and his promises in.  He works tirelessly to earn her trust and get her to leave her boyfriend, Jax.  But all Cass can think is why would Tucker care about her?  He clearly has money, so why spend it on her when he could have any girl he wants?

Cass and Tucker are both extremely strong and stubborn characters, but they also work so well together.  The story is wonderful.  It actually made me cry about 4 times, which almost never happens.  Cass struggles with being there to try and help Jax and her mother come out of their addictions all the while being abused by Jax when he's under the influence.  I can't say that I was ever cheering for her to stay where she was, I did see the situation from her perspective and understood why she did stay.

Many stories in this genre are, unfortunately, all about the sex.  While there is some in White Trash Beautiful, it is extremely tasteful and purposeful.  It is there to move the story along, and fits well.  And no, I won't tell you who it involves because that would give away where part of the story goes.  Mummert has a gift and a talent for transporting the reader into the each scene.  You feel every emotion right along with the characters.

I was addicted to White Trash Beautiful by the 2nd page.  By the end of the book I was captivated, moved, and ready for another fix of Cass and Tucker.  Bring on White Trash Damaged!!

~~Favorite Tucker White Quotes~~

"I know what it's like, Cass, to feel like nobody gives a shit about you.  I also know that
sometimes we need someone else to make us feel like we're worth something...
to make us feel special, you know?"

"The point is, you can't always fix things on your own.  Sometimes you need someone to help you.  Sometimes you just need to be noticed."

"Sometimes you have to fall before you can fly... and sometimes you ned someone to catch you."

~~Beautiful Series Playlist~~

I found this playlist online (I cannot take any credit for it), and it is simply amazing!
It fits White Trash Beautiful perfectly.

~~Goodreads Summary~~

First in a stunning new trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Teresa Mummert.

“I’m not naive. I know I don’t get the happily ever after. My knight in shining armor took the highway detour around this god forsaken shit hole. I’ve made peace with that. That doesn’t mean I’m going to lay down like a doormat and let every cocky prick in the trailer park have his way with me.”

Cass lives a depressing life in a small trailer park in Eddington, Georgia, with her mother and abusive boyfriend Jackson. She works hard to barely make ends meet. But everything changes when Tucker White, the lead singer in the band Damaged, walks into her diner. He tries to show her that there is more to life than the hand she has been dealt, but Cass soon learns that being with Tucker will come at a high price
